How to Use

How do I know which air purifier is best for my specific needs?
Each purifier displays the specific space that it is used for and how many square feet it can cover. When determining which purifier you need, keep in mind that the purification cannot spread into areas that are separated by walls, closed doors, or stairways. If you would like assistance choosing which purifier is best for your needs, our friendly team of product experts will be happy to assist you. You may contact us by visiting our Contact Us page.

How do I know if my purifier is working?
Each pureAir purifier has either a display or light to indicate whether there is power running to the unit. If your purifier is displaying a light or display information, the best way to determine if your purifier is working is to use your nose! The goal of pureAir purifiers is to eliminate all odors that indicate the presence of bacteria, mold, mildew, allergens, or other pollutants. If you detect an odor in the space you are purifying and the purifier is turned on, then your purifier setting needs turned up. If you detect a distinct smell of the active air purification itself, then your purifier setting should be turned down. If you have turned your purifier setting to its maximum level and still detect odors we recommend continuing purification until the odors are removed. If you feel that the odors still remain after a prolonged period of time, we recommend that you call our friendly product experts to help determine how we can help. We can be reached by visiting our Contact Us page.

Why do I smell an odor coming from the air purifier?
pureAir purifiers are different than traditional air filters that simply filter large particles from the air. pureAir uses active air purification technology that propels from within the purifier into your space, killing bacteria, mold, mildew, viruses, allergens, VOCs, and other indoor air pollution. This means that you might detect a faint odor that resembles chlorine or bleach coming from the purifier. This odor will not harm you and is 100% safe. However, some people do not prefer the smell. pureAir purifiers are most effective when there are absolutely no odors in your space, whether those odors come from pollutants or from the purifier. We recommend adjusting your settings to create an environment that does not have any odors at all. If you can smell the purification, the settings can be turned down. If you smell pollutants, the settings should be turned up.

Installation

How do I install my air purifier?
pureAir air purifiers are simple to set-up and use and do not require a licensed installer. Each purifier has specific installation instructions or a quick-start guide to assist you in your installation. Our purifiers are very simple to use, requiring only to be plugged in and turned on. However, we recommend paying close attention to how to set your purifier so that you are effectively purifying your space without having the purifier set too high. If you would like assistance installing your purifier, you are welcome to contact our helpful product experts who can support you through the process. We can be reached by visiting our Contact Us page.

Troubleshooting

What do I do if my purifier quits working or has an issue?
pureAir products are backed by a manufacturer’s warranty, but even after the warranty has expired, our team of product experts are happy to help you determine what might be troubling your air purifier. By calling or emailing us, we can help troubleshoot the issue to determine if it might need a replacement part or repair. We stand behind our products and it is our highest priority to keep your purifier servicing the healthy environment of your space. You can reach us by visiting our Contact Us page.

Maintenance

What maintenance is required?
pureAir products are very durable and last many years with proper maintenance. Each of our pureAir products has different maintenance requirements which can be found in your Owner’s Manual. Unlike traditional HEPA air filters, pureAir products do not require frequent filter replacement. Instead, pureAir products use ACTIVE air purification produced through either a bulb or an electrical charge. This means that the purifiers are more effective and easier to maintain. The filters that are used in some of our air purifiers are simply used to keep the inside of the air purifier clean. We recommend cleaning your purifier once per month to extend the life of the product. Air purifiers that are not properly cleaned will not last as long as those that are. The parts that are required to be replaced can be found in the ‘Related Products’ of each product page. If you need assistance in maintaining your purifier, you can speak with one of our friendly product experts by reaching out to us through our Contact Us page.

How to Use

Can I use pureWash to clean my cloth diapers?
Yes! We have several customers that are using pureWash to disinfect and clean their cloth diapers and have received great reviews! No hot wash nor any extra rinse cycle is required. The ozone injected into the water by pureWash is highly effective at breaking down organic stains. It’s 3,000 times more reactive than chlorine bleach! This lends itself extremely well to the type of stains usually found in cloth diapers. Just wash as normal using cold water for both your wash and rinse cycles. pureWash treats all the water entering your washer, meaning your wash and rinse cycles are both powerful wash/disinfect cycles.

Can I use pureWash with my delicate clothes?
Yes! We always recommend that you follow the guidelines provided by your clothing manufacturer just as you would with laundry detergent. pureWash is an excellent solution for washing delicate clothing because it uses cold water and cleans without the use of harsh chemicals.

How does pureWash work?
pureWash uses the cleaning and sanitizing power of Activated Oxygen (Ozone). This extra molecule of oxygen is an amazing disinfectant that is 3,000 times more reactive than chlorine bleach! The ozone in cold water breaks down the cell walls of micro-organisms and kills them over prolonged exposure. Large hospitals and hotels have used this technology for over 20 years to keep their linens sanitized and bacteria-free. pureWash takes that same technology and scales it down to an appliance that you can use in your own home.

Should I pre-treat stains?
Absolutely. pureWash cleans your normal, everyday organic stains incredibly well. In fact, it cleans your clothes better than detergent because is kills the bacteria, germs, and odor that comes with stains. However, there are some tough stains that you need to pre-treat before washing with pureWash. Oil and grease stains can be especially difficult to remove. Bottom line – ALWAYS pre-treat stains. We recommend pureWash Pre to treat your tough stains.

Should I use bleach?
Nope. Bleach is best known for its ability to whiten and brighten your white clothing and generally requires that you wash your clothes in hot water when bleaching. We don’t recommend using bleach when washing with pureWash, but if you are looking for a great way to brighten your clothes without the use of harsh chemicals and hot water, we suggest adding about a quarter cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle of your wash. This will brighten the clothing, as well as add another level of softening.

Should I use detergent?
One of the great benefits of pureWash is that you can reduce or eliminate the use of chemical-filled detergents. pureWash kills mold and bacteria and softens clothes without detergent. However, just like when you are using detergent, pre-treatment is needed to remove tough stains. We recommend finding an all-natural or enzyme stain remover to use before washing your clothes. Some people like the fragrance that comes with using detergent. pureWash will leave your clothes smelling fresh and clean, but if you prefer fragrance, we recommend adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the rinse cycle. The detergent will not harm your clothes when using pureWash. However, using detergent can cause a buildup of chemicals in your clothing that can be harmful to your skin. If you want to continue using detergent, we recommend reducing the amount used to 25% of what you have used in the past. pureWash will actually enhance the detergent’s abilities to fight stains because of the oxygen in the water. If you have further questions about pureWash and detergents, please contact our support team by visiting our Contact Us page to get the most out of your pureWash system.

Should I use hot or cold water?
Nope. Using hot water will not harm your clothes when running pureWash, but we don’t recommend using hot water for the following reasons: Hot water is costly on your wallet and the environment, as it requires a lot of energy to heat up. Hot water is hard on your clothing and will cause your clothes to not last very long. Hot water dissipates the extra oxygen produced by pureWash too quickly. The positive benefits of pureWash won’t be possible when you use hot water.

Installation

Can I install pureWash myself?
Yes! pureWash is simple to install and use. It simply needs to be connected to a local power outlet, the cold water source in your laundry room, and the washing machine. It should take less than 20 minutes if your washing machine and water source are reasonably accessible. Check out our Quick Start Guide for details!

Can I use pureWash if I have a septic system?
Yes. PureWash is perfectly safe for septic systems and actually helps them work better due to increased oxygen. The activated oxygen (O3 molecule make of 3 oxygen atoms) infused into the water by pureWash kills mold and bacteria in your washer but quickly breaks down into simple oxygen (O2) by the time it reaches your septic system. Unlike detergents that have chemicals that hinder the aerobic (oxygen) digestion necessary for proper breakdown of waste, pureWash aids the aerobic digestion process. When the water flowing from the pureWash goes into the washer it contains a high concentration of bacteria and mold killing “activated oxygen” or O3, but within 10-15 minutes the O3 has done its work and reverts to O2 or ordinary oxygen we breathe. This oxygen-rich water that flows from your washer into the septic tank fuels the aerobic process, enhancing the ability of your septic tank to break down waste and can even extend the time required between pump-outs. There is also less chance for solid material to make its way into the leach lines and therefore less chance you will need to replace your leach lines.

Can I use pureWash if I have city water / well water / hard water / soft water?
Just like all of the appliances in your home, pureWash works best with filtered water. High mineral content, hard water, and well water will lessen your appliance’s ability to function properly. If your water quality is not adequate, we recommend purchasing a pre-filter system or a water softener. This will improve the performance of all of your household appliances. Without good quality water, minerals will deposit inside of your pureWash plumbing. This will lead to performance issues. There are ways to clean your pureWash if this happens, so please contact our support team by visiting our Contact Us page if you are experiencing low performance.

Can I use pureWash with my washing machine?
Absolutely! pureWash is designed to work with all residential washing machines, top load, and front load.

Can pureWash work with low/high water pressure?
pureWash has been tested to perform well with water pressure between 40 and 75 psi. If your water pressure is lower than 40 psi or higher than 75 psi, you will need to adjust it.

Is pureWash easy to install?
Yes! pureWash is incredibly easy to install and use. It simply needs to be connected to a local power outlet, the cold water source in your laundry room, and the washing machine. It should take less than 20 minutes if your washing machine and water source are reasonably accessible. Check out our Quick Start Guide for details!

Misc

Is pureWash environmentally friendly?
Absolutely. pureWash uses natural gas called ozone, which has no harmful effects on the environment. Additionally, using pureWash eliminates the need for hot water, reducing your energy consumption from the washing machine. Your drying time will decrease as well, which also reduces energy. Lastly, using pureWash means you can reduce your laundry detergent to a quarter the amount or even no detergent at all, decreasing the number of chemicals that go into your wastewater. Overall, using pureWash is better for the environment.

Will pureWash remove the moldy smell in my washing machine?
Yes! The moldy smell coming from your washing machine is mold growing in the rubber gaskets. Laundry detergent builds up and when you leave your washing machine door closed, mold forms. pureWash does several things to remove the mold. First of all, it reduces your need for detergent. When you eliminate or significantly reduce your detergent amount, the mold buildup never begins. Secondly, the ozone from pureWash kills the mold already in the washing machine every time you run a cycle. The black stains on your rubber gaskets may remain, but the mold will be eliminated. Your clothes and washing machine will smell fresh when you use pureWash regularly and reduce or eliminate your use of laundry detergent.

Safety

Does pureWash kill bacteria and mold?
Yes, pureWash was tested by two independent laboratories and was proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria. Check out the pureWash Pro Testing Results!

Is ozone (activated oxygen) safe?
Absolutely! The ozone from pureWash is inserted directly into the washing machine water and dissipates after 20 minutes. Ozone is the same gas that is produced by the earth when pollution rises, created to clean the air. It will smell like you’ve just stepped outside after a summer rainstorm. It’s nature’s way of cleaning!

Is pureWash safe for my delicate clothes?
Yes! pureWash is safe and more gentle on your delicate clothes than detergent. We always recommend that you follow the guidelines provided by your clothing manufacturer just as you would with laundry detergent. pureWash is an excellent solution for washing delicate clothing because it uses cold water and cleans without the use of harsh chemicals.

Is pureWash safe for my washer?
Yes! pureWash Pro actually helps keep your washer clean from bacteria and mold. The activated oxygen produced by pureWash is perfectly safe for your washer and plumbing system.

Is pureWash safe to use with my septic system?
Yes. pureWash is perfectly safe for septic systems and actually helps them work better due to increased oxygen. The activated oxygen (O3 molecule make of 3 oxygen atoms) infused into the water by pureWash kills mold and bacteria in your washer but quickly breaks down into simple oxygen (O2) by the time it reaches your septic system. Not only is pureWash NOT bad for your septic system, but it actually will help your septic system work better. There is also less chance for solid material to make its way into the leach lines and therefore less chance you will need to replace your leach lines.

Troubleshooting

How do I know that pureWash is working correctly?
The best way to tell that pureWash is working is by observing the following: Does pureWash beep when you plug it in? Is the blue light coming on when pureWash Pro has water running through it? Are there bubbles flowing in the water that can be seen through the window? If one of these actions is not happening, please contact our support team by visiting our Contact Us page to get the most out of your pureWash system. Please note that if there is a red light in the viewing window (at the center of the unit) instead of a blue light, this does not mean that you need to replace the desiccant dryer cartridge. You should contact our support team to determine the cause of the red light. The beads within the desiccant dryer cartridge will turn from blue to pink in color when the cartridge needs replaced. You can view the beads on the left side of pureWash Pro.

Maintenance

What maintenance is required?
pureWash is truly a low-maintenance appliance. You will not need to perform any regular cleaning as long as you have a good quality water source. The only replaceable part in pureWash is the desiccant dryer cartridge, which helps your pureWash work better and lasts longer by keeping moisture out of the unit itself. It’s located on the left side of pureWash, and needs replaced when the blue beads all turn pink. Under normal operation, your desiccant dryer should last at least 6 months. It really depends on how often you do your laundry and the amount of humidity in your laundry area. Removing the desiccant dryer is very easy, and a replacement can be ordered from our website!

Technology

Why is pureHeat better than other heaters?
pureHeat offers a better, safer, more efficient heating solution than typical ceramic, gas, or electric heaters. The heating element is built to heat your space more efficiently while maintaining a superior level of safety for your family.

What is zone heating?
Zone heating is an economical way to heat your home that is being adopted by families everywhere to save money and reduce energy consumption. Rather than heating your entire home through a central system, zone heating is the process of heating only the spaces where you are in your home. It saves money and energy by turning your central heat down and using pureHeat products to heat the spaces you occupy.

What is PTC heat?
PTC is an abbreviation for “Positive Temperature Coefficient”. PTC Technology offers significant benefits in two key areas of importance that make them well suited and safe for use in your home. First and foremost is safety. PTC heaters are self-limiting, which means that as they approach their design operating temperature, electrical consumption is automatically decreased. PTC heaters are incapable of overheating. The GreenTech pureHeat PTC element is set for a maximum output level that can adequately provide zone heating for rooms. The difference between a pureHeat heater and traditional heaters is that this power level changes automatically in response to ambient or environmental demands. The second key benefit afforded by PTC technology is efficiency. The pureHeat PTC heating element draws full rated power upon startup to quickly heat the element, and reduces power consumption as the setpoint temperature is reached. The heater only works as hard as it has to in order to maintain temperature, saving energy and achieving more consistent temperature from floor to ceiling.

Maintenance

How long should my heater last?
pureHeat is designed to operate for many years thanks to the efficient heating elements combined with intelligent design. In fact, pureHeat PTC heating elements have a lifetime guarantee, meaning your heating element should never quit.
